['pædmɔː], George, eigentlich Malcolm Ivan Meredith Nurse [nəːs], panafrikanischer Politiker, * Trinidad 1902 (?), ✝ London 23. 9. 1959; studierte in den USA (u. a. Soziologie, Medizin, Jura), trat der KP bei und wurde 1930 in Moskau Leiter des »Negerbüros« der Kommunistischen Gewerkschaftsinternationale; 1931-33 in Hamburg Herausgeber des »Negro Worker«. 1934 brach Padmore mit dem Kommunismus, blieb aber Marxist. In Manchester organisierte er 1945 mit K. Nkrumah den 5. Panafrikanischen Kongress, wurde 1957 Berater Nkrumahs in Ghana.
